Why Choose Bespoke Joinery Over Standard Fittings?

What is bespoke joinery?

Bespoke joinery involves the customising of wood to create a unique piece of furniture according to specific requirements. Handcrafted furniture is designed and made to fulfil the client’s needs and tastes whilst taking full advantage of the available space. Huntsmore bring together experienced craftsmen with the skills, precision and imagination to produce special ‘one-off’ creations.

What are the benefits of bespoke joinery?

Bespoke joinery maximises the use of available space

Bespoke joinery is of particular value to those who live in areas where space comes at a premium or whose properties possess an unusual layout.  It is made to exacting specifications and can be tailored to match the existing design of the property or to accommodate the taste and lifestyle of the client.

Bespoke joinery can be made to match the existing design

Because bespoke joinery is made to the exacting specifications from scratch, it can be a great solution to refresh a high-traffic area. Replacement joinery can be made-to-match, saving property owners the need for undergoing a complete and often costly refurbishment.

Bespoke solutions prolong the joinery lifespan

Joinery is designed with the exact space and use in mind. And designing a piece of furniture made especially for the chosen space and purpose allows us to account more precisely for future wear and tear.

“As a result, our team can create a unique joinery structure, which is both well fitted and made to last.”

Bespoke joinery makes every piece unique

Bespoke joinery is designed for you from scratch with the exact space and use in mind, from materials chosen by you. There is no need to compromise in style or functionality.

Where can you use bespoke joinery?

  1. Wardrobes – custom drawers can be built to display or store your clothes and shoes
  2. Cupboards – individually sized to store anything from crockery to coats
  3. Shelves and shelving units – customised to display books, records or even trophies
  4. Window frames – built to individual size
  5. Door frames – designed to match the existing decor
  6. Staircases – repurposed or renewed to meet your needs and preferences

What are the most popular materials to use?

In the past, only solid wood was used but now there is a wide range of materials to choose from. The choice would depend on your personal preference, intended use and your budget.

Solid wood

Luxurious and hard-wearing. Popular choices include walnut, ash or maple. But, due to it’s high cost and the fact that it can warp over time, we wouldn’t normally recommend it for a client’s joinery projects

Birch plywood sheets

A high-end solution that uses veneers sandwiched together above and below other layers. Because it has no void in between, it remains strong, robust and will not warp over time. It is also one of the safest materials out there due to the finish of the wood and the solid joinery. For example, if you’re looking to use a robust stone countertop in the bespoke kitchen, birch plywood is strong enough to support the weight.

Wood veneer

Wooden veneers come in a wide range of ages, grains, colours and type of wood. They are a great solution to enhance the beauty of a hand made structure. Popular options include walnut or ash.
