How Wood Flooring Can Make A Big Impact In Your Home

Wood flooring is one of the most beautiful features you can incorporate when it comes to designing an interior space, and the style you choose will ultimately have a significant effect upon the final look. Here at Huntsmore, we’ve teamed up with Havwoods to create this blog post on how wood flooring can make a big impact on the overall aesthetic of your home.

Wood planks are available in a full spectrum of light, dark and neutral shades. With hundreds of colours available, timber is also offered in a range of different styles from engineered and reclaimed to solid wood, all suitable for different looks. Finishing techniques include brushing and burning to distressing and planning – all of which create a weathered and unique look that adds visual interest to the board. Furthermore, wood flooring can be assembled in a variety of different ways, from classic chevron to contemporary block patterns, meaning that it’s possible to achieve almost any desired effect.

Using wood flooring is a failsafe way to achieve a beautiful, characterful and timeless interior. From rustic to modern, the timber is sure to bring a touch of warmth and personality to any room in the home from the dining room to the bedroom. There are so many options available, and the sky really is the limit when it comes to planning your new space.

Here at Huntsmore, we design and build residential projects specialising in the renovation and restoration of period homes. For many of our designs, we incorporate real wood flooring from Havwoods, as it has an enormous portfolio of board options suitable for a range of homes, resulting in a stunning, high-quality finish for our schemes.

In our Queen’s Park project, we designed and built a new maisonette property in an old Victorian house. We incorporated warm wood boards in the hallway to compliment the light, cream coloured palette of the walls and units. This has created an inviting and welcoming space from the very first entry through the front door.

Similarly, in our Notting Hill project, we undertook a complete renovation of a traditional mews house to give it a contemporary and colourful makeover. We laid a reclaimed oak floorboard supplied by Havwoods throughout the open plan kitchen/living space, to continue to sense of character and age in an otherwise modernised space. The golden tones of the woodwork wonderfully well against the mustard furniture, resulting in a bright and cheerful interior.

In our Pimlico project, we completed a renovation of a Victorian maisonette apartment to create a beautiful, timeless interior that blends traditional styling elements with a contemporary colour scheme. A solid wood herringbone floor from Havwoods board was selected in the entrance hall and dining area to unify the open-plan space, and bespoke wood panelling was installed on the wall to create an eye-catching focal point.

With endless designs to choose from, there really is no limit when it comes to planning your wood flooring. We hope that, with the help of Havwoods, we have shown how your choice of timber can have a significant impact on the final look of your home, through the examples of our previous projects. From traditional to contemporary, and from rustic to sleek, there are a number of ways to achieve your desired look – get in touch with us today to discuss the different options available!
